Clean & Simple Petal Passion with Stampin' Blends

I have a couple of cards today using this week's sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping.    I wanted to feature the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and the Petal Palette Bundle on these cards.  I'm a big fan of black & white with a pop of another color. But I've also been seeing some stunning projects using this DSP that has been colored with various methods.  For this sketch I started with the pink card, with only a little bit of coloring on the small flowers, but once I got started, I had to try the larger print too!

  • Pink Pirouette card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black: 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
  • Pink Pirouette: 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Basic Black: 1 5/8" x 4"
  • Petal Passion DSP: 1 1/2" x 4"
  • Basic Black scrap
  • Pool Party scrap
  • Whisper White scrap

Card Recipe #2

  • Pool Party card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black: 5 3/16" x 3 15/16"
  • Pool Party: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Basic Black: 1 11/16" x 3 3/4"
  • Petal Passion DSP: 1 1/2" x 3 3/4"
  • Basic Black scrap
  • Whisper White scrap

Tips & Tricks to Recreate these Cards

  • I used the Stampin' Blends to color the Designer Series Paper.  The black paper with small flowers was colored with the Pink Pirouette Stampin' Blend.   The larger print paper was colored using various colors.  I didn't do any shading. Instead I let the gray areas of the DSP act as the shading.
  • The bird on the Pink Pirouette card was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Pool Party Stampin' Blend.
  • The sentiments were stamped on cardstock on die cut using the label die from the Petals & More Thinlits Dies (part of the Petal Palette bundle).  These are affixed to the cards using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • The black trellis piece on both cards was die cut with the Petals & More Thinlits.  The best adhesive to use for this piece is the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.
