Hedgehugs Special Day

Isn't this little guy adorable?  He comes from the new stamp set Hedgehugs, which will be released January 3rd with the new Occasions Catalog.  This set will make some adorable thank you, birthday, and even Valentines Day cards.

Card Recipe

The sketch for this card came from this week's challenge at Clean & Simple Stamping.

  • Crumb Cake Card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Cherry Cobbler: 5 3/16" x 3 15/16"
  • Crumb Cake layer: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Wood Textures DSP: 1 1/4" x 5"
  • Cherry Cobbler: 2 3/16" x 2 7/16"
  • Whisper White: 2" x 2 1/4"

Tips & Tricks

  • The hedgehog was stamped with the Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad and colored with the Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends. I started with the darker shade on the outer edges and then filled in with the lighter color.  The lightly ran the light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blend under the feet of the hedgehog to give him a ground to stand on.  The flower is colored with the light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends.
    • NOTE: Not all Classic Stampin' Pads will work with alcohol markers.  Most Classic Stampin' inks will dissolve when used with alcohol markers. So far I have tested and have had success with Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, and Soft Suede.
  • After layering the Whisper White on Cherry Cobbler, I wrapped Linen Thread around it three times and tied with a knot.  The bow was tied with a separate piece and attached with a glue dot.
  • Main image is mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • The greeting is stamped with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Pad.
