Colour Combo Blog Hop - Beautiful Peacock

Welcome to February's Colour Combo Blog Hop.  As you travel through the blogs of demonstrators around the world, you will see projects using the combination of Elegant Eggplant, Pacific Point, and Wisteria Wonder.

When I saw this month's color combination, I knew I wanted to use the Beautiful Peacock stamp set.  This color combination is perfect for the peacock!  Beautiful Peacock is one of the stamp sets that you can choose for FREE with a $50 (US) purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  It will only be available through March 31st so don't wait to place your order!

Card Recipe

Scroll to the bottom of this post for a complete supply list.
  • Wisteria Wonder card base: 4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded at 5 1/2"
  • Elegant Eggplant: 3 15/16" x 5 3/16"
  • Whisper White: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Elegant Eggplant scrap
  • Whisper White scrap

Tips & Tricks to Recreate this Card

  • To get the multi colored peacock feathers, I first inked the stamp with Wisteria Wonder ink.  I then used a  Stampin' Sponge to add Pacific Point ink along the upper edge of the feathers.
  • After stamping the peacock feathers, I stamped the body with Elegant Eggplant ink.
  • I cut the peacock with the large square Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I then added the sentiment in Pacific Point in the lower corner.
  • The Elegant Eggplant square was also cut using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
  • Before assembling the card, I stamped the tail swirl on the 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I added a few small flowers in Wisteria Wonder with small Rhinestones in the centers.

Using Stampin' Sponges

  • When you receive your Stampin' Sponges, cutting them into wedges will give you more control.  I usually cut each sponge into eight pieces.
  • Many stampers use cardstock to label their Stampin' Sponges with color names and keep one sponge for each color.  You can also clean your sponges with water and (maybe) a mild soap after each use.
  • To keep you fingers ink-free, attach a binder clip to the sponge wedge to use as a handle.
